Technicians
- Technicians have been discussing chemicals that carry risks for women of reproductive age. Responses
- The traditional slime recipe uses borax which is not safe. An alternative example of polymers and cross linking is alginate worms: a 2% sodium alginate solution (with food colouring) dropped into 0.1M CaCl2 solution using a large syringe. Hey presto, soft squishy wormy tubes – Goo worms
This is my last Mike’s News. Many thanks for your support over the years – whether in words of thanks, sending things to share or encouraging others to join. I would particularly like to thank Ben Himme who encouraged Warp Computers to help and Larraine Barton who suggested a structure for a very jumbled collection of bullet points. I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my fascination with science and pedagogy with you all. NZASE will be back in the new year with a weekly newsletter of snippets as well as their monthly offering of longer articles.
I wish you season’s greetings and a restful holiday with those you love.
Mike
Mike’s News is brought to you with the generous support of NZASE and Warp Computers
PS. If you are looking for IT help please consider Warp Computers. Sam & Ioan set up the Mike’s News platform and provided IT support for free because I was providing the newsletter to you as unpaid work. They are skilled at what they do, come up with useful ideas and are easy to work with. I can highly recommend them.
