  1. NZASE is giving SciCon registrants first access to a digital collection of teaching resources from L1 Science pilot schools. This material was paid for, as the copyright belongs to pilot schools and their hard work needs to be acknowledged. This cost was significant and not budgeted for so needs to be recouped – this means after SciCon these resources will be for NZASE members only. However, this year membership is the lowest it has ever been, $20 per individual, $100 per secondary school. Join here https://nzase.org.nz/.
  2. Auckland Botanical Gardens exhibition Hidden Secrets explores the concept of ‘plant blindness’, showing plants help us every day in ways we do not often realise or notice. Apr 8 – May 28.
  3. Introduction to Rāranga 4-5 pm 26 Apr is a Technology Education NZ webinar that explores the basic tikanga of harvesting and weaving with harakeke and the diversity of products. This hands-on experience will be relevant to primary & secondary teachers. Sign up here.

Can You Help?

  1. Brieanna Aziz, Kaipara College hopes to take her Yr 12 ESS class to Ak’s Stardome observatory in term 3, week 6 or 7. The website says the minimum charge is equivalent to 35 students. Her group is half that size & her smaller school can’t afford to pay double the price. Is there another Ak teacher with a small class that would like to join her on the trip? baziz@kaipara.school.nz
